Christmas season is something that is enjoyed in almost all parts of the world and each country has their own set of traditions; some are very similar while others are unique. Then there are some that are downright strange.
Aside from the country and culture specific traditions, there is also the set of family or personal traditions. A really different Christmas tradition is a very Old Norwegian one. It was an old belief that on the eve of Christmas witches and bad spirits would come about the towns looking for brooms on which to ride. So all the villagers would hide their brooms where they believed they couldn’t be found. Today’s modern age also sees vestiges of this custom. The men of the house gallantly go outdoors to fire off a shotgun; threatening and scaring off the witches.
In the Czech Republic, young ladies who dream of marriage have a very unusual Christmas tradition. On Christmas Eve, these hoping to be brides, will stand with their back to the house. Next they will throw one of their shoes over their shoulder towards the door. Now if the shoe lands with the heels towards the door, then unfortunately she will remain unmarried for another year. On the other hand if the toe of the shoe points towards the door, she is believed to marry before the next Christmas. She will begin making her wedding preparations and move out of her parent’s house!
If you feel that the shoe tossing tradition is interesting, you will find the food tossing tradition quite intriguing. Now if you like a clean home especially at this festive time of year then you wouldn’t want to adopt this tradition. All members of the family sit down for the Christmas Eve dinner. The head of the family takes a good sized spoonful of a special traditional Christmas dish made from bread poppy seed filling and water. This is called Loksa. Then, he will throw this hefty spoonful of Loksa up to the ceiling while everyone watches to see how much of this gooey mixture has stuck to the ceiling. Now this is very important because the more that is stuck on the ceiling the better the crops will be. This is a tradition that is followed throughout Slovakia and the Ukraine. It provides great family amusement except possibly for the women who have to clean up the mess.
In many countries the people attend mass either Christmas eve or Christmas day. This is also true in Caracas Venezuela with one exception; everybody roller skates to the mass. It is such a big traditional event that all the roads within the city are closed to car traffic. It’s a great alternative to ice skating because the climate is just too warm for snow or ice.

Halloween is one of the most exciting festivals celebrated in US; the most popular costumes which are worn during the halloween are the latest movie characters costumes. As it comes to the Halloween costumes the most popular costumes which are admired during the festive season are the costumes worn by the Hollywood characters, it is important to remember that life always imitates the artistic characters. Thanks to Hollywood that offers the people with the ideas that they can enact on the basis of the characters they establish in their movies.
Hits
The movie released in 2006, the summer Blockbuster by name the Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the biggest reasons why the sale of pirate costumes increased to a tremendous level. The pirates dress before this movie was sold but it was not sold at such increased levels. Another classic example of this act is the Marvel comic book characters but you are sure to see an increase in the number of Supermen, Clark Kents partying around the town with the release of Superman returns. And ofcourse some of the popular characters like the batman, Spiderman, Superwoman and the Incredible Hulk are some of the high powered costume classics are very common during the most sought after Halloween and these costumes are very much popular despite the fact that there aren’t any movie releases.
All Age
Children and adults of all ages participate in the trend of wearing the costumes which are inspired by the movie and television stars. The best part about wearing the costumes of television and the movie stars is that the other people love to guess the disguise and they even enjoy doing so. Choosing a Hollywood based theme is one of the best ways to keep the children involved in the costume decision process. They can have the opportunity to select the characters based on the best and favorite cartoon character and the characters of the television and he movie stars which they love to wear and they are quite proud of their attire.
Center of attraction groups
One of my favorite themes is that of the Brady bunch. This is one of the most appropriate themes for the large groups and it can easily bring back the good memories. The America’s favorite family for the years together has been the Brady’s family. How can you forget Marcia, Jan, Cindy, Bobby, Peter, Greg, Michael and Carol. Incase you are having an extra person with you then do not forget to have with you Alice and the cousin Oliver. You can be assured of the funny appearance if you have a person dressed as a tiger or the family dog Brady.
Attention Grabbing-Groups
The Brady Bunch is a great theme to go with for large groups that want to bring back good memories. As corny as Marcia, Jan, Cindy, Bobby, Peter, Greg, Michael and Carol Brady were, they were America’s favorite family for years. Don’t forget about Alice and Cousin Oliver if you have an extra person or two without a costume. A sure laugh would come from dressing someone in the group as Tiger, the Brady family dog.

Halloween is the best time to introduce children under the age of 5 to the world of art and craft making. Preschool Halloween crafts can be made by young children with adult supervision. Preschoolers can be taught valuable lessons about life in general, by involving them in art and craft activities. These experiences will remain with them for a long time and mould their creative talents and artistic skills.
Children below the age of 5 are a precocious lot and they are at a learning stage in their lives. They are just getting to know their surroundings and are eager to learn new things. It is a novelty to them to be able to create craft items themselves. However, the adults need to be very patient and encourage them to create something on their own, be it a drawing, painting or even Halloween crafts. A little guidance on the part of the parents or schoolteachers will go a long way in helping to hone their artistic skills. A search on the Internet for preschool craft ideas will give a number of simple Halloween crafts that can be created by very young children. A few fun Halloween crafts meant for preschoolers are described below to get you started.
After the pumpkin is carved, do not throw away the seeds. They make a great snack if they are roasted with a little salt. You can save some of the seeds so that they can be used for craft decorations. Clean the seeds thoroughly, and let them dry. Take a piece of cardboard or construction paper and cut out a circle. Glue the seeds with the pointed ends facing outwards on to the edge of the circle. Glue a second row on the inner side. Sprinkle some glitter in the center. Punch a hole on the top edge and hang it in the room or upon the wall. Another option would be to paint the seeds and attach a stem to make it into a flower to be put up on the wall.
Edible halloween crafts are a great hit with preschoolers. Kids usually enjoy eating the craft items they have created themselves. Dirt and worms is one such preschool Halloween craft that a child will enjoy making and eating! You will need a clear plastic cup, chocolate ice cream, some chocolate cookies, a plastic zip-loc bag and some gummy worms. Place the chocolate cookies in the zip loc bag and ask your child to smash them up into little bits. Next, put a small dollop of chocolate ice cream in the plastic cup. Pour the cookie crush over the ice cream and add some gummy worms. Give the kid a spoon to eat their creation and enjoy!
Preschool Halloween crafts are fun for adults and children alike. They help parents to get to know their kids’ creative talents and have great fun bonding together. For more ideas on preschool Halloween crafts, you can surf the net; moreover let your creative imagination take over to create something truly enjoyable for your child.

Halloween is all about having fun with your friends and family. Among the best parts of Halloween are decorating the house with hand made crafts. And when these crafts are all hand made, the more the merrier! At times space constraints bar us from this pleasure.
Now I’m sure, you all must be looking for some free Halloween crafts that are easy enough for you to follow and can fit in little space!
Well, internet is a hub for several ideas. Once you have the ideas and tips and tricks, you can use your innovative skills to make the ideas even more interesting. Creativity and imagination is the key to make your decorations as exclusive and attractive and spooky as you wish to. Here are a few ideas to get started:
1. Tissue Ghosts
This is perhaps the writer’s favorite. Take a piece of Kleenex. Gather it together such that it forms a bulb at the top and the bottom should be splaying out. Shaped almost like a ghost! Now, with a rubber band twist and tie to maintain the shape of the bulb. You can also uses a garbage bag for the same. This becomes the ghost’s head. So just tie it as tight as possible! Now grab on a black magic marker to dot in the eyes, nose and mouth. The Kleenex ghost is ready to spook around. You can make loads of these and hang around the house. This would impress your friends & family and friends. You would be able to boast as a Halloween crafts pro!
2. Egg Carton Bats
This idea is quite simple. Get some simple stuff like egg cartons, a pair of scissors (safety scissors in case the child is younger), and black paint. Cut out 3 egg cups from the egg carton and ensure that they remain attached. Check that the egg carton must be clean. Now the outside cups would turn in to two bat wings – simply cut their front and back. Now paint the whole thing in black. Attach goodly eyes for the real impact or simply paint the eyes using white paint. Here, the middle cup becomes the face. Now make a hole on the top of the middle cup and pass a string through it. Make a sturdy knot so that it doesn’t slip through this hole. Now, put the string in this hole. Finally hang the bats where ever you feel like.
Try using a combination of waterproof paint and Styrofoam egg carton. These bats are perfect to decorate the trees outside the house.
Now on experiment with what ever wastes you get your hand on at home and develop your own spooky fun decorations for halloween!
